Distance Education Support For Faculty
USC Upstate is committed to providing quality instruction and course content to students regardless of geographical location by combining the best pedagogical strategies with the latest technological innovations. The Office of Distance Education serves to ensure support, compliance and consistent quality of distance education courses and programs at USC Upstate.
As part of the Center for Academic Innovation and Faculty Support, the Office of Distance Education is committed to providing support for both faculty and students in distance education courses - both online and hybrid.
The following resources are provided to support your online teaching and course development:
- UpOnline Course Consultation - assists in certifying faculty members to teach online and supports faculty in new course development or course redesign.
- ProctorU - online test proctoring service is available through the Office of Distance Education. NOTE: academic units must pay a fee for these services.
- Center for Academic Innovation and Faculty Support - offers professional development workshops, institutes, resources, and learning experience design services for everyone from part-time instructors to academic leadership in academic units and faculty governance and presentations each academic year.
- TechSmith Relay Lecture Capture - enables faculty members to make videos in the classroom, in the office, or from a mobile phone. The software is available through USC Upstate (contact IT to have it installed on your work PC).
Virtual Student Services – connects online students with the full range of USC Upstate resources and services including tutoring, advising, career management, library support, tech support, and more.
