What does USC Upstate mean to you?
USC Upstate has given me a chance to reconnect with a dream that I thought I was lost. I was looking for a place to land when I met Dr. Predmore in the English building (four years ago). I will never forget that afternoon, I was on the verge of tears, scared to death, and begging myself to get out of my car and go inside. I felt like a failure because I was forty-eight and had not finished what I started 22 years earlier at USC in Columbia. Thanks to USC Upstate, and the collaborative effort of the Professors, the Tutoring Center and the Math Lab, I no longer feel like a failure. I feel proud and empowered, and I have the grades to prove it. I have been on the Dean’s list every semester since I started, except one, where I finished six classes with a 3.4. I have three semesters left at USC Upstate; I found more than a place to land here, I found a great big bird that took me under its wing and showed me the way.
