Pay for Books or Course Access Codes
If you are struggling to pay for books, have a 2.0 gpa and demonstrate financial need, you may be eligible for assistance.
To be considered for the award, the student must submit an application and provide a copy of their registered classes for the upcoming semester, total required textbook or course material expenses from the USC Upstate Bookstore, and provide a brief written explanation demonstrating their financial need.

If you have a 2.0 gpa, are in good standing with the University, and demonstrate a financial need, you may be eligible to receive up to $599 in one-time assistance. Fill out the form describing your need and Upstate may be able to help.
Drop your laptop and have a paper due? Need to study for an exam and your computer crashed? Reach out to Information Technology. They may be able to loan you a device so you can keep up with your work and ace your exam!
Food Assistance – Spartan Pantry
Any USC Upstate student can access the Spartan Pantry. The Pantry is intended to assist students during financial emergencies. Items typically available the Pantry include non-perishable and frozen food items, basic personal hygiene items, and general cleaning supplies. The Pantry is located in the Office of Student Involvement on the 2nd floor of the Olin B. Sansbury, Jr. Campus Life Center and open 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday. On the Greenville Campus, a Pantry is located in Room 129, back hall of the Mary Black School of Nursing Suite at the University Center and open 8:30-5 Monday through Thursday, and 8:30-noon on Friday.
United Way – Transportation and Rent Assistance
USC Upstate has a relationship with the United Way of Piedmont in helping assist Spartan students in need. Hailey Barnhilll is a Community Resource Coordinator with United Way and can help students with long-term financial needs and financial planning. She and the United Way may be able to assist you with rent, utility payments, transportation needs, and help to find a job.
