Important information about Coronavirus (COVID-19)
USC Upstate Health Services operates within the mission and goals of the university by offering student services designed to enhance the holistic development of students. Health Services assists in providing general education which emphasizes personal responsibility for life-long learning and physical well-being. In keeping with the University's metropolitan focus, Health Services strives to provide excellent health promotion programs, which emphasize coordination and interface with resources in the surrounding communities.
We offer health care and education to all enrolled students on an outpatient basis. Our team of nurse practitioners and nurses are available to provide a variety of services including, but not limited to immunizations and immunization compliance management, tuberculin skin tests, physicals/wellness visits, and sick visits. Please see the appointments page for details about services provided, fees, and other frequently asked questions. Please call our office at Health Services to schedule an appointment or speak with a nurse if you have questions about symptoms you may be experiencing.
Additionally, we serve as a resource for faculty and staff for acute care concerns, including USC Upstate employee workman's compensation claims.
As an employee, you may call our office at extension 5191 to schedule an appointment to be seen by one of our nurse practitioners, typically within 24 hours. The intent of our service is to provide timely, cost-effective care as a convenience, with minimal disruption to your busy schedule. Health Services is unable to provide chronic care to employees, and we encourage you to establish care with a PCP in the area. We are happy to refer you to an area office accepting new patients if you need assistance.
There is a $20 office visit charge for staff visits, payable by cash, check, or credit card. There may be additional fees to cover costs of testing provided (i.e. strep of flu testing). It is important to note that at this time, USC Upstate Health Services is not a member of any health insurance network and does not bill insurance for services provided.
All students are required to have a history of current immunizations on file prior to enrollment. All clients will complete a medical history questionnaire on their first visit to the office. There is a small fee for some services to cover the cost of vaccines and lab work. For more information and to access the required immunization form, please see Immunization Requirements.
All clients are provided with copies of their medical records for personal use. Health Services charges a $5 fee to print additional copies of medical records for personal use. Medical records are provided free of charge to outside medical offices and facilities.
