    Itzel Tello

    Candidate Name: Itzel Tello

    Major: Communications – Public Relations
    Classification:
    Sophomore
    Hometown:
    Greer, SC

The University of South Carolina Upstate is known for its small size, however, it is also known for its friendly and diverse environment. This has resulted in an open atmosphere all throughout the campus. My goal is not only to help contribute to the growth of this environment but to also expand on the openness that will help those who feel excluded become part of the Upstate family. I want every student to feel a sense of belonging and to not think twice before getting involved with the organizations, and events. Getting students involved and attending events has been a challenge especially when there are so many commuting. If we push for student involvement students will feel a sense of unity with the college community. The goal for my platform will be to help nurture student involvement and to let students know that we are here for them. In order to get them involved, we have to be spontaneous to make that push. But before any changes can be made, we have to let the students know that we exist solely for them! We are their voice and they are the reason that we have a campus. From there, we can get more student input and make the changes that they want. Overall, I want my platform to be focused on students and for them to understand that they are important. I want each student to feel that they belong and eventually, I know this will result in more school spirit and unity.
