The Carolina Cash account is for purchases across campus.
The CarolinaCard is your ID as well as a pre-paid declining balance card which accesses the deposits you make into your Carolina Cash account. To deposit money into your Carolina Cash account at USC Upstate:
Via the University’s VIP system (Go to the CarolinaCard options under the Financial Tab)
To deposit money into your Carolina Cash account at USC Columbia:
- At the CarolinaCard office located in the Russell House Underground
- At any of the Automatic Deposit Machines (ADM) located in the Thomas Cooper Library, the BA Library & at the front entrance of the University Bookstore.
Deposits to the CarolinaCard are available immediately with the exception of online VIP deposits which are made available every half hour between the hours 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
CarolinaCard balances roll forward from one year to the next until you graduate or withdraw from the University. (Upstate Dining meal plans, “Bonus Bucks” DO NOT roll forward.) For more information on dining, please visit USC Upstate Dining Services.
Requests for refunds from your CarolinaCard are only granted for graduation, withdrawal from the University or at the end of a semester. Requests for refunds can be made by completing the request for refund form on the Carolina Card website.
All refunds from the CarolinaCard office must be made within 90 days of graduation, end of semester, or withdrawal. For students actively enrolled, refunds will be handled 30 days prior to the end of the semester and a $20 processing fee will be charged with the exception of graduation. The refund check will be mailed to the student’s permanent address. No refunds are issued for account balances of $25 or less.
Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately. You can report a lost or stolen card by going to the University VIP website under the CarolinaCard options tab. Once the CarolinaCard office is notified, there will be a block placed on your CarolinaCard to prevent usage. Replacement cards are $35. Stolen cards are replaced free when accompanied by a corresponding police report. Once a replacement card is made, the $35 ID charge cannot be refunded if the old card is found.
