Omprakash
https://www.omprakash.org/
Description: "A nonprofit global network of social impact organizations, volunteers, learners, donors, and doers working since 2004 to build relationships and raise consciousness." This organization seeks virtual volunteers for its partners. While some partners post specific online volunteer positions, "Online Position" to all partner profiles and invite interested individuals to propose their own "vision for how your skills and qualifications would make you useful to the Partner as an online volunteer." One must register to apply to serve with an organization. Be aware that this may take some time and plan accordingly.
Value: Students can browse the global network of social impact organizations and apply for online positions for free. Given specific criteria, students could search through these for opportunities that fit your course goals. Additionally, per Co-Director, Willy Oppenheim, "we might be able to work together to build a customized program or set of programs for your campus… This would come with a fee, but would definitely be way more robust and affordable than most 'global engagement' programming." If you are interested in exploring this option, let's chat!
Omprakash also offers for free a powerful online learning program, Solidarity & Storytelling across Differences that guides users thinking about social justice concerns related to COVID-19 and culminates with instruction on telling stories in support of social change and a blog post detailing 5 Tips for Being a Useful Online Volunteer.
