Kick-off Global Entrepreneurship Week Event

12:15 – 1:15 p.m. | Rotunda
Launch event to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week; open to all USC Upstate students, faculty, administration and members of the business community. Refreshments provided and live music. Student businesses will be on display.

Tuesday, Nov. 19

Community Panel – Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Upstate

12:15 – 1:15 p.m. | BMW Classroom 150

Panel discussion with successful women entrepreneurs, including special guests South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and Jaime Wall, partner, WJ Partners, and Robyn Hussa Farrell, Co-founder and CEO of Sharpen. Moderated by Dr. Meredith Brunen, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. Box lunch provided.

How Artists and the Creative Community Can Grow Revenue and Connect to Capital

5 – 7 p.m. | Mayfair Art Studios, Spartanburg

Expert speaker and panelists will provide their insights to help you generate more revenue, get access to capital and protect your valuable art, music and creative content. Special Guest Speaker, Kristin Whiting, Art Lawyer & Consultant. Panelists include: Steve Johnson, Entrepreneur and Regional Manager, SCRA: South Carolina Research Authority; Edris Tucker, Financial Development Manager, CommunityWorks. Moderated by Jennifer Evins, president & CEO, Chapman Cultural Center. Libations and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce Panel Discussion: Entrepreneurship: Driving Economic Development

12:15 – 1:15 p.m. | BMW Classroom 150

Moderator Allen Smith, president and CEO, Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce, and experts from the business community will discuss the impact entrepreneurship is having on economic development in Spartanburg County. Panelists include:  John Bauknight, President Longleaf Holdings/Broker NAI Earle Furman; Steve Hall, Vice President of Business Development and Senior Talent Consultant at Find Great People.

USC Upstate Student Business Pitch

5:30 – 7 p.m. | Main Campus (JM Smith Boardroom-HEC)

All USC Upstate students campus-wide have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas with feedback from Jeff Smith, senior instructor, Johnson College of Business and Economics, and former student entrepreneurs. Refreshments provided and prizes awarded.

Preregistration required to attend; to participate, students must submit pitch form (to be provided).

GEW Closing Reception with Alumni Entrepreneur Showcase

Prominent USC Upstate alumni entrepreneurs share their success stories and paths to building their businesses. They are: Dan Adams, '83, president and CEO, The Capital Corp.; Chip Smith, '78, owner and president, Blue Ridge Log Cabins; Jack Robinson Jr., '84, president, Volunteer Box LLC; and Mark Hinson, '80, chair and co-founder, Instream. Reception with libations and hors d’oeuvres.
