Upstate Rotary International Peace Park
A beautiful six-acre park is taking shape on the campus of the University of South Carolina Upstate. Once completed, this park will be a place to relax, contemplate, watch, wish and pray for peace and understanding.
The Upstate Rotary International Peace Park is made possible by a unique partnership between USC Upstate and four Rotary Clubs in Spartanburg (North Spartanburg, Spartanburg West, Inman and East Spartanburg).
To be officially dedicated on April 17, 2008, the park already boasts nearly 400 newly-planted trees, a seeded lawn with sprinklers, various gardens, and a fountain in the small lake. Upon completion, the park will feature boardwalks, park benches, walking paths, an outdoor classroom amphitheatre, a conifer collection, shrub roses and ornamental grasses. It will be a beautiful place that students, community members and travelers can enjoy.
Benches will provide respite for meditation. Beautifully landscaped areas will beckon us for reflection and contemplation. Trees will shelter and grace the site while the sounds of water in motion will soothe your senses and relax your mind.
The Upstate Rotary International Peace Park offers a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize someone. Each donated feature will be signified with a plaque to recognize the donor or honoree.
