This certificate is for administrative staff who complete a series of educational workshops by subject matter experts to cultivate a professional and skillful environment. Trainings required include:
- DiSC Personal Profile
- Conflict Resolution
- Avoiding Common Errors
- Data Privacy and Security
- Title IX
- At least two other position-specific trainings (HR Paperwork, MS Skills, etc.)

A green zone is a safe place where student veterans can feel that someone knows about the issues they face, can help them find appropriate resources, and can lend an understanding ear as they transition from deployment back to the classroom or vice versa. Yearly training is provided for all faculty, staff and students. Participants in the training receive a card to mark their office or classroom a green zone, and therefore military friendly.
Throughout the year, training opportunities will be offered for faculty and staff members who wish to become a part of the Green Zone Network.
Persons who complete the training are included in the Green Zone Network.
The LEAD (Learn, Educate and Develop) series of courses is a two-track management development program that is designed to assist University employees in enhancing their knowledge, skills and abilities to lead people and get results. It also serves as a vehicle to prepare employees for career advancement. While crucial for new supervisors, experienced supervisors will discover new approaches to leadership and fresh ways to manage people effectively.

FERPA Tutorial and Quiz
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 sets forth requirements regarding the privacy of student records and affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. All faculty and staff are required to complete a tutorial and quiz on FERPA and Student Rights. When asked for an email to send your verification of completion, please enter email@example.com. Those who need to submit a request for access to student records will be able to access the request form at the completion of the tutorial and quiz.
OSHA - Employee Safety and Risk Management Program
This training webpage is USC Upstate’s primary means of employee safety training. This campus-wide resource is intended for use by all USC Upstate employees to facilitate and promote safety, health and environmental management.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment or sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, sexual battery and/or sexual coercion.
