As COIVD-19 started to spread around the world and, more specifically, the United States in early 2020, it became quickly apparent that medical supply shortages were rapidly approaching. This impacted not only hospitals, but the offices of doctors, dentists, dialysis centers, and other outpatient medical treatment facilities. This presentation will discuss the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) logistics program. Also, challenges and successes of the COVID response to date in South Carolina will be discussed. Moreover, Mr. Blair will talk about the causes of medical supply chain shortfalls during the COVID-19 pandemic, the workarounds, and the more permanent solutions. Finally, Mr. Blair will discuss the logistics support for testing and vaccination sites across the state, and the planning and distribution of COVID medications and medical supplies.
